Reviews
An absolute treasure. Marc's final legacy has been difficult to find in reproduction, due to the fragile nature of the original. Yet, here it is, fully reproduced, as if you are holding his legendary sketchbook in your own hands. Every page is lovingly included, along with an afterward to describe the significance of this little book of 36 astoundingly creative sketches."Sketches" probably isn't the right word here, since each one is a fully developed work of art, displaying the powers over shape, form, and composition of an artist at the peak of his artistic maturity. When you consider that Marc left home to join World War I at the peak of his painting career, the poignancy of these sketches, his final works before his tragic death in the battle of Verdun, is absolutely heart-rending.
